Background

Dr Tim Haste is a senior scientist in the Department for the Prevention of Severe Accidents, Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN) Cadarache, France, where he is engaged in interpretation of results from severe accident experiments such as Phebus FP. Formerly he was at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland, where he was engaged in analysis of severe accidents for light water reactors, and was coordinator for the Source Term area of the EU 6th Framework Network of Excellence SARNET. He has extensive international experience in analysing the performance of a wide range of nuclear reactors under normal operating and transient conditions, along with collaboration in large experimental programmes and computer model devlopment, and with international organisations such as OECD/CSNI, IAEA and the EU. He is the author of many reports and technical papers, and contributes as peer reviewer for papers for the open literature and for international conferences. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and of the Institute of Mathematics, a Learned Member of the Nuclear Institute, a Member of the French Nuclear Society (SFEN), and a Member of the Chartered Quality Institute.
