PhD Research Students

Current PhD research in the Swan Centre covers a range of topics, including carbon sequestration, renewable energies, low-carbon fuels and integrated systems. Subject areas upon which our PhD students are currently engaged in research include:

  • underground coal gasification;
  • carbon transport, capture and storage;
  • impact assessment of bioenergy plantations;
  • reactive extraction technology for biodiesel production;
  • renewable energy storage and utilisation in fuel cells systems;
  • vertical axis tidal energy devices;
  • investigation into the free-piston engine concept and its potential for high efficiency and low emissions power generation;
  • life-cycle assessment of use of recycled materials in asphalt pavement.
