Gasification
A biomass gasifier has been developed over a period of years based on a process intensification approach, aimed at delivering a very low-tar gas and a low equipment cost. A 25 kW unit is available at the university for experimental work. A version of the technology has been scaled up to 1.5 MW and commercialised via spin-out company ITI Energy. Expertise in gas clean-up technology linked to downstream catalytic conversion is available.
