Initiative set to boost NE manufacturing performance

Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) Process Improvement Group

The School of Engineering hosted and organised the inaugural meeting of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) Process Improvement Group on 23rd February 2017.

Established by the private sector to offer a single voice on behalf of the manufacturing community, the AMF is now the largest manufacturing forum in the North East, engaging with members and the wider business community to exchange ideas and knowledge in order to create business growth and success opportunities within the manufacturing industry. The Process Improvement Group – a quarterly forum – will help manufacturers improve productivity through performance improvement.

This inaugural event threw the spotlight on lean methodology and implementation within the manufacturing sector. One of the industry experts presenting at the meeting was our own Ian Fletcher, Professor of Surface Engineering.

“Following the meeting, company representatives visited various areas within the School and were suitably impressed with what they saw,” said the School’s Industrial Liaison Officer, John Lockey.
