PhD student appointed as Educational Affairs Officer in IEEE

Zeyad Al-Shibaany has been appointed as Educational Affairs Officer at the UK and Ireland Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

Zeyad Al-Shibaany has been appointed as Educational Affairs Officer at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE UK and Ireland Section), which is the world's largest technical professional organisation for the advancement of technology. We offer our congratulations to Zeyad for being selected for such a prestigious appointment.

Zeyad is currently a PhD student in the School of Engineering. His PhD project is entitled Design and Implementation of Mass Sensor for Portable Medical Device Applications. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2012, with an MSc in Mechatronics Engineering. He was awarded the Best MSc Student Prize and Certificate in his subject area, as well as a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of his outstanding contribution as a Student Orator at the University’s congregation ceremony in December 2012.

In 2016, he received a Certificate of Excellence from Newcastle University for initiating and chairing the first International Conference for Students on Applied Engineering (ICSAE 2016). On youtube:

Zeyad also delivered a speech during the celebration of International Women's Day at the Embassy of Iraq in London on 12 March 2016.

Zeyad has a Certificate in Leadership from the University of Cambridge, a Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and a Certificate in Project Management and Control from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

He is also a Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD).
