With over 100 hundred researchers and support staff, 125 industrially funded projects over the last 10 years and various embedded research centres, the Electrical Power Research Group (EP) has become UK’s largest and most successful specialist research group in this field.

EP specialises in groundbreaking research, the application of which is used in transport, renewable energy, power networks and low-cost manufacturing.
EP carries out pioneering fundamental and applied research using world-class facilities across four locations (Newcastle Main Campus & Science City, Morpeth Cockle Park and Singapore Campus). We have over £9 million of active research projects (mid-2016) and have secured £6 million of EPSRC money since 2011.
Many of our trained PhD students and RAs are now in leading positions in industry and academia globally.
The Group carries out pioneering fundamental and applied research using state-of-the-art equipment housed in a purpose-built research laboratory. We regularly invest in updating our facilities and equipment in order to maintain a world-class facility.
The Group is always eager to collaborate with industry in the UK and Europe via short-term consultancy, product development, testing and evaluation or long-term, leading edge research.
