Waste and Recycling
Newcastle University is committed to ensuring that our waste is disposed of in the most sustainable manner practicable and in a way which does not endanger health or the environment.
In 2008 we rolled out a new recycling scheme which staff and students have responded to very well. Currently on campus we recycle about 50-60% of our general waste. So well done! Approx 10% is sent to landfill and 30% to an energy from waste plant.
You should always be within 30 seconds walk of a recycling container. We recycle a wide range of materials. For full details go to the What can I recycle? section.
