Capital Project Planning Process

The Estate Planning Team are the first port of call for all the University's major capital projects (£250,000 and over).

The process follows the RIBA Plan of Work and utilises Stage A & Stage B (Inception & Feasibility).

In conjunction with the Estate Faculty Coordinators it is the Planning Team's responsibility to develop the brief with the User Client Representatives and undertake feasibility studies, option appraisals and give outline cost advice.

This process may also involve assistance in the preparation of an initial draft business case including liaison where appropriate with external funding bodies. The Team will give advice on how to proceed including where appropriate, the delivery of Client Awareness Training, outlining the obligations of the user client during the planning process prior to handover to the Capital Projects Team who will procure the project from RIBA Stage C onwards.
