Recent Projects
Conductive Nanowires
One North East funded project to create labs within the Bedson building recently completed and handed over to the customer. Project was designed and led by Steve Wildsmith with Peter Sanderson carrying out the M & E design. The project involved:
- remodelling labs on the first floor;
- installing fume cupboards and air handling units;
- new suite of offices and meeting rooms;
- improved accessibility on the first floor.
The project was designed and delivered in house against extremely tight funding deadlines.
Replacement of High Level Signage
Replacement of existing large high level signage to new University CVI, led by Ross Henderson and currently on site with completion by end of May.
Accommodation Refurbishment Works
In conjunction with accommodation and hospitality services we have developed a rolling programme of works in refurbishing student accommodation. The scope of works is varied but includes:
- modernisation and conversion to self catering kitchens;
- toilet and bathroom refurbishments;
- fire detection system replacements;
- modifications to the listed wardens house at Henderson Hall;
- new dishwasher (see photo) costing £100K, capable of processing 4000 pieces an hour.
Robin Beattie has specific responsibility for liaising with accommodation and hospitality services, and is supported by the whole team in designing procuring and managing the projects on site.
Campus Re-cabling Programme, and Campus Optical Fibre Infrastructure Upgrades
John McNeil has been leading this project. The 4PCA funded part of this works is nearing completion, which encompassed installing upgraded data wiring within a number if the main campus buildings and new optical fibre infrastructure within the campus. The remaining part of the part of the project funded from ISS is to upgrade the external optical fibre links via Richardson Rd which is due for completion by end July 2008.
Extreme Project
ONE funded project to provide specialist facilities for MOD testing within basement including office, lab and testing tank. Project led by Dave Goodwin with Dave Hudson carrying out the M & E design currently on site due completion end May.
Alterations to Accommodate Direct Works and Associated Civil Engineering School Works
DW and grounds maintenance to move into refurbished areas last week in April. Civil Engineering works due for completion end of May. The project has been led by Ross Henderson and many others within improvements particularly during the initial phases. On completion a large part of the Drummond building ground floor will have been remodelled and refurbished at very favourable m2 rates.
Barras Buildings LTM Repairs
On site, high winds delayed full erection of scaffold. The project required close Liaison with HBG, TT and ESS PM over SAS project, where the programme sequence was modified to suit. Project led by Doug Nixon with completion due at the end of May.
