Walking to Work
Walking to work will cost you nothing and will strengthen your heart and muscles and can help with weight control.
Try walking to work once a week to begin with. Consult with your doctor if you are in any doubt as to your ability. If walking to work is not an option, even a walk at lunchtime can give you health benefits.
Make sure you are safe by:
- encouraging a colleague who lives near you to try it as well;
- carrying a personal alarm;
- keeping to well lit routes;
- wearing a piece of reflective clothing;
- avoid walking on roads.
