Car Sharing
To encourages a more sustainable approach to travel, we offer:
- a lift share website which will match staff travelling to and from work at similar times and from areas
- designated bays for staff who choose to car share.
The aim of the University’s car sharing scheme is to reduce the number of single occupancy car journeys onto the campus.
Staff interested in looking for a car share partner should register at the Newcastle University liftshare website.
To qualify for a car share parking bay a group of two or more staff should:
- pay the annual disc fee of £50;
- pay the daily required 'pay and display' fee when parking on campus and park only in their designated car sharing bay
- ensure that only one of the cars registered on the same permit is parked on the campus at any one time (other than after 4.00 pm and at weekends);
- ensure that if more than one car is parked on campus as above the relevant pay and display fee has been paid for both vehicles.
Staff wishing to apply for a car sharer’s permit should complete the form Application For a Parking Permit - Car Sharers and return it to Customer Services Office, ESS, 9 Kensington Terrace.
