Lever Arch Files and standard files / binders / paper folders

As we move away from paper document storage  you may be finding that you are disposing of more and more files.

Lever arch files and binders maybe handy for storing documentation but they are problematic for waste disposal because they are bulky and therefore expensive, they also have a tendency to rip or tear plastic collection bags.

foldersFurthermore they are often in good working condition and can be used by somebody else!

As part of office clear outs or spring cleans files are often disposed of.

If you have files which are in good working order, which are not needed anymore we can reuse them by redistributing to students. This is done periodically in the Robinson Library foyer.

Please note: Files must be in good working order. If the binder doesn't close it is broken and should be put in the general waste.

Please also note that non-standard binders (such as the ones with 4 rings) are no good to students and we cannot reuse them. Please put them in the general waste.

Before recycling the files:

Please empty the paper contents of the folders into the paper recycling system.

Please empty any plastic wallets of dividers into the ‘all other plastics’ recycling system.

Please wait until you have a good number of files to dispose of. Place them inside a cardboard box or a suitable container.

Make sure that the container can be moved easily. If you cannot lift it then either can the porters.

Please fill out a porters request form here making reference to ‘lever arch file recycling’ at porters request.
