Organised by the International Centre for Music Studies, the LIVE in the King's Hall Lunchtime Concerts and student concerts take place every Thursday and are free to staff, students, and members of the public.

The Splendour of Venice
New Vocal Ensemble, Renaissance Band, and members of His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts
The International Centre for Music Studies at Newcastle University presents a concert of polychoral music to mark 400 years since the death of the Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli.
Tickets: £12 (£10 for senior citizens, £5 for students and unwaged). This includes admission to the 9.45pm performance in Culture Lab. Gabrieli's Sonata in 22 parts is performed by two of Europe's leading period instrumentalists, with the aid of live electronics. The Sonata will be multi-tracked in surround sound and real-time, creating part concert, part sound installation.

The performance will last approximately 70 minutes, and audience are welcome to drop in and out of the concert as the piece develops.
