VAMM
Catriona Macdonald (fiddle)
Patsy Reid (fiddle and viola)

Contemporary tunes of Aidan O'Rourke and Jim Sutherland sit alongside 19th-century reels, as well as the group's own compositions. VAMM's sound is led by the strength of melodic and harmonic beauty rather than their cultural backgrounds, combining intricate, lyrical arrangements and bass-thumping rhythms.

In the world of jazz and improvisation it's not just the music that is constantly changing - the combinations of musics can also be very flexible. So it is with this afternoon's artists; working together for the first time, united by mutual admiration, trust, and a curiosity "to see what happens". The music will be wholly improvised, without any pre-determined constraints.
