The Splendour of Venice
New Vocal Ensemble, Renaissance Band, and members of His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts

The International Centre for Music Studies at Newcastle University presents a concert of polychoral music to mark 400 years since the death of the Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli.

Gabrieli's Sonata in 22 parts is performed by two of Europe's leading period instrumentalists, with the aid of live electronics.  The Sonata will be multi-tracked in surround sound and real-time, creating part concert, part sound installation.
