British Scholar Society Lecture
Free admission, no pre-booking required.
Date: 26th November 2013
Time: 17:30 - 18:30
Venue: Curtis Auditorium, Herschel Building, Newcastle University
This lecture focuses on ‘transitional generations’ – those who lead national oppositional movements and then take power, form governments and simultaneously have to deal with the legacies of former despots or colonial governors. Much of the content of this lecture will be drawn from leaders who replaced British rule, but its themes are equally relevant to more recent events such as the ending of white rule in South Africa or the Arab Spring.
