In the years since her death, Elizabeth Bishop (1911–79) has become one of the most revered of American poets. A traveller for most of her life, Bishop also spent 15 years living in Brazil. Professor Anderson will explore the connections between poetry and place in Bishop’s work, and how she used travel to arrive at her poems.
