The natural sciences frequently provide the only forensic evidence in a criminal investigation. Over the last 20 years, disciplines such as botany, zoology, mycology and soil science have contributed greatly in criminal investigations where molecular, and other more conventional methods, failed. Using case histories and examples of the approaches used, Dr Wiltshire will demonstrate how quantitative and other data have helped to gain convictions in serious crime.
