Temporary change of access routes to the Herschel Building

There will be no pedestrian access to the Herschel Building from Percy Street while work on the next phase of development of Newcastle University’s campus takes place. Work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2012.

Directions to the Herschel Building

During the construction work the main pedestrian access routes to the Herschel Building from the city centre will be via St Thomas’ Street close to the junction with Queen Victoria Road, or along King’s Walk, off Barras Bridge. Both of these routes are fully accessible and will add approximately 8–10 minutes to your journey if walking from Haymarket.

Alternative routes through the campus will be clearly signposted in an effort to minimise the impact on pedestrians. Please note that public parking on campus will also be limited.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you will not be deterred from attending what promises to be a stimulating lecture programme.
