Mrs Veryan Johnston - Executive Director of Human Resources
As Executive Director of Human Resources, Veryan Johnston has overall responsibility for Human Resources including staff development and occupational health and safety. Veryan is a Trustee Director of the local pension scheme.
Veryan joined the University in 1998 from the University of Teesside where she lectured in Human Resource Management. She was previously Group Human Resources Manager with Northumbrian Water Group PLC.
Veryan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and gained an MBA from Durham University Business School in 1995. She is actively involved with the Russell Group HR Directors network having been Chair from 2006-2008 and is Chair of Universities Human Resources from 1st October 2012.
