Education and Training

We offer the following courses, which are open to both internal and external (academic and industrial) delegates:

New User Course

Course fee: Free

New user (or refresher) meetings are held every three months and cover the basics of flow cytometry. There is usually a commercial sponsor invited to these meetings to give a talk on recent developments and/or relevant information within the flow cytometry field.

In Depth Colour Compensation Course (two days)

Course fee: £400 (please enroll here)

This course is run approximately four times per year. It provides an understanding of the principles, concepts and technology of flow cytometry, and gives an in-depth look at all steps leading to a stable multicolour experiment. Students begin by getting a thorough theoretical grounding in flow cytometry and then move on to supervised hands-on experience of the instruments and experiments – including both basic and advanced multi-coloured experiments.

International Flow Cytometry Meeting (one day "Praticalities of Cellular Analysis " April 25 2013)

Course fee: £25 (Newcastle University delegates can pay by grant number here)

This annual conference covers all aspects of flow cytometry,Bio Imaging and Electron microscopy.

A trade exhibition runs alongside the main meeting, and industry speakers are often featured in the scientific sessions. Plenary talks are given by keynote speakers , and parallel sessions are used to focus on specific technologies or techniques in more detail.
