The Freedom of Information Act allows you to ask us for access to any information we hold in recorded form. However, if you want to request access to your personal records or other information we hold about you, you must make this request under the Data Protection Act. Our Data Protection pages explain how to request access to your personal records.
If you wish to make a request for information that relates to the University under the Freedom of Information Act, you simply need to provide us with the following information:
You should send your request to our FOI Officer, using these contact details.
We have 20 working days to respond to your request. We will make all reasonable effort to locate the information you require but we may need you to provide more detail if your original request does not allow us to quickly identify the information you are looking for. Only when we are clear what is required will the 20 working day response time commence.
If the information you request is already published in some form we will direct you on how to find it rather than provide the information itself. Equally, if we know that the requested information is published by another public authority we will direct you on how to contact that authority.
On very rare occasions, we may need to charge for reasonable printing, photocopying and postage costs, and will not release the information until the required fee has been received. We will make every effort to inform you of the amount of the fee as quickly as possible.
For more information about how we'll handle your request, see the next section on responding to requests.
