Fatigue

The need to fail a component in a fatigue test can be a lengthy process unless we can run it under overloaded conditions. This is the case when fatigue-testing belt and chain drives on automotive engines where the overload condition would result in engine failure.

We've developed a method of simulating the dynamic loads normally imposed on the belt or chain, independent of the engine. The geometry of the pulleys, sprockets, idlers and tensioners are identical to the engine situation. By increasing the dynamic loads above the normal amplitudes, we can achieve accelerated fatigue testing.
