Our Donor Pledge

In order to merit the respect, trust and confidence of our alumni, friends and benefactors, we will:

• explain how gifts help fulfil the mission and vision of the University while also satisfying the philanthropic intent
• give appropriate acknowledgement and recognition for our benefactors’ generosity
• assure that donations and all forms of charitable gifts are used effectively for the purposes agreed with our donors. Where such purposes are no longer practicable or appropriate, the University promises to use gifts in a manner consonant with our donors’ intentions and in the spirit in which given.
• professionally handle all donation information above that required by law
• provide prompt, truthful and forthright answers about any aspect of a donor’s gift
• strictly observe requests for donor anonymity and, if asked, remove donor names from mailing lists that we share with other University departments
• if requested, provide a copy of Newcastle University’s most recent annual report, financial statements and investment policies
• if requested, provide membership details of boards and committees which govern Newcastle University
