Brains not necessary!
The year that went through the Medical School between 1948 and 1953 was a great group: a combination of ex-servicemen, school boys and a smattering of girls (about 15 per cent!) who became firm friends. Reunions have been held every few years since graduation.
To mark this wonderful camaraderie (which was whipped up by a few leading lights in the year) we have decided to make an award of £500 in February of each year to the final year student who is best characterised by the following criteria:
Final-year medics will be asked to submit the name or names of the person they wish to nominate along with a couple of paragraphs outlining why they think they are eligible for this prize and give some examples of why their nominee meets the Year of 53 criteria above. Nominations will be open in January 2013.
The award reception (with nibbles and drinks) is held in the Howden Room, King George VI Building, and is open to final year students. To attend this event, please register with maria.szpitun@ncl.ac.uk
Best wishes,
