Named Student Scholarships

One way in which you can help us to offer a first-class student experience is by funding a scholarship. Scholarships reward excellence and give students direct access to the support they need while studying.

As a donor, you choose the subject area to which you would like to contribute, and then work with a member of the Development team to define your needs and match them to University priorities.

Scholarships can be given a name of the donor’s choice, so they could be named after the donor or in memory of a loved one.

There are three ways to fund a scholarship:

  1. Expendable endowment - £25,000-£50,000
For donations of £25,000 and above, the University is able to invest the full amount, so that the resulting yield partially funds the scholarship. With an expendable endowment, the capital will eventually be used up over a specific number of years.
  2. Permanent endowments - £50,000 and above
For donations over £50,000, the University is able to offer a permanent scholarship. The amount is placed in the University’s General Investment Pool and the interest used to fund the scholarship. Income then contributes to student support, at the discretion of the University, where need is greatest.
  3. Annual gifts – any amount
If you prefer, you can sign a pledge to fund a named scholarship for a set number of years and agree to transfer the amount over to the University on an annual basis.
