Sustainability Fund

The Sustainability Fund

What difference will it make?

The Sustainability Fund is a flexible, unrestricted fund which will help to ensure that research projects are in themselves sustainable, and instead of being time limited by available research funding can continue as long as necessary.

It will be used to help projects which are linked to the University’s mission of civic engagement, where researchers work with local organisations with a common aim, for the good of the region and its communities. Donations may be directed towards staff costs or to vital consumables and equipment.

What difference can I make?

Donations to the Sustainability Fund could be used...:

  • To support educational work with local schoolchildren on sustainable living across the world
  • To support water remediation work with local communities in former mining areas
  • To support ongoing costs of research into improving the technology of electric vehicles

Any donations, whether by regular direct debits or a one-off gift, can be directed to the Sustainability Fund. The Fund will be a general pot under the control of the Director of NIRES who will ensure the money is distributed to areas of greatest need. All donations are therefore extremely useful.

Our goals

We aim to raise £25k during the Year of Sustainability to use as a rolling fund for sustainability projects both currently and in years to come. Can you help?
