The most recent incarnation of a demand for a living wage movement started in the USA – in Baltimore the early 1990s – and it has since spread to many cities in the USA, before coming to the UK in the early 2000s. Jane Wills and colleagues have pioneered research and activism around the living wage in the UK. The lecture will engages the theory, practice and politics of the living wage movement and its progress in the UK.
