Human Geography

Geography at Newcastle is a major research area that occupies a strategic role in integrating research across the social and natural sciences and the arts and humanities.

Core to what we do at Newcastle is a passion for research that makes a difference beyond the academy.

We undertake and disseminate research of the highest international standard and have a long-standing international reputation for policy-relevant research for diverse local, national and international audiences.

All academic staff at Newcastle are research active and contribute - together with our diverse postgraduate community - to our strongly international and interdisciplinary research culture.

Research activity in human geography is organised through three clusters, which have links to other centres and institutes:

A cross school research theme that is also relevant to human geography is Visualities.
