Newcastle is a major centre for research in political philosophy. The work of its political philosophers tackles many of the most important issues in the subject, both contemporary and historical. The Newcastle Ethics, Legal and Political Philosophy Group, a Faculty-sponsored research group, runs a well known research seminar series that brings together staff and postgraduates from across the University. The seminars are addressed by distinguished external speakers from across the UK, United States, and other countries, as well as Newcastle staff and postgraduates. The research group also holds regular special events, including recent conferences with Martha Nussbaum and Thomas Pogge.
