Entterritoriale Politik : Von den Internationalen Beziehungen zur Netzwerkanalyse. Mit einer Fallstudie zum globalen Terrorismus (2004)

Author(s): Behr EH

Abstract: In his monograph “Deterritorial Politics” Hartmut Behr successfully develops the theory of transnational politics under the special perspective of political territoriality and deterritorialisation …. Important emphases are made upon the discussion of four territorially-bound concepts of modern statehood, namely sovereignty, integration, the function of borders and national/international security, as well as upon the question whether these concepts apply to global politics. Behr elaborates not only an approach and method to distinguish and concretize our notion of political territoriality, but further elaborates aspects of a deterritorialized political theory … Arguing that the traditional definition of the state has to be rethought and redefined, this study goes far beyond political science and international relations and is most relevant, too, for international law, defence studies and the history of political thought. Thus, this study makes a significant contribution to academia. Herfried Muenkler, Humboldt University, Berlin
