Postgraduate Taught Programmes in Sociology Our Masters programmes in Sociology provide specialist research training and are recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as offering the requisite skills training for preparation for a PhD. These research training Masters are designed to provide high quality research training to enhance key skills and employability.

We also offer a new non-research training Masters programme designed to equip students from different academic and professional backgrounds with an awareness and understanding of the theoretical traditions and concepts that shape sociology as a discipline:
Postgraduate students in Sociology play in integral role in both attending, organising and participating in the wide range of events and activities that take place within the Sociology community in the School. In terms of facilities the School provides a dedicated postgraduate computer room (eight work stations with unlimited internet access); postgraduate common room; postgraduate study rooms; access to telephone, fax, computing and photocopying facilities.
