Professor David Brown, Development Sociology, Cornell university, USA (January to July 2014)

David is a social demographer who teachers and conducts research on migration and population redistribution, the production and reproduction of spatial inequalities, and rural and regional, policies in the US, UK and Eastern Europe.

While in Newcastle David is collaborating with Tony Champion, Mike Coombes and Colin Wymer on a study of changing residence and changing workplaces over time in the UK. He is also co-editing the International Handbook of Rural Studies with Mark Shucksmith.

Visiting fellow, is currently a BMBF-DAAD Postdoctoral Fellow at TU Berlin working on research entitled "Towards New Approaches and Flexible Prototypes for Integrating Sustainable Local (Regional) Urban and Architectural Patterns into LIFEcenter Project in Hashtgerd New Town". The main goals of the research-stay in Newcastle are to discuss and strengthen the theoretical framework of the work, to get ideas for the next empirical evaluations, to initiate future co-operation and to work on joint publications.
