McCord Centre welcomes new PhD students

The McCord Centre is delighted to welcome five new research students who have joined us in autumn 2014. All five are funded with full scholarships from the ‘Northern Bridge’ doctoral training partnership (a collaboration between the universities of Newcastle, Durham and Queen’s University Belfast funded by the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council).

Director of the McCord Centre made Head of School

Professor Sam Turner, who is the Director of the McCord Centre is now also Head of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology from this academic year.

This year's programme will include star attraction Hadrian's Wall, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Warkworth Castle, Hexham, Carlisle, Tynemouth and many others, including hopefully Holy Island/Lindisfarne.
