Bronze Age Combat: An experimental approach

The Newcastle archaeology project ‘Bronze Age Combat: An experimental approach’, which seeks to explore how Bronze Age swords, spears and shields were used in real combat situations, was recently presented at the British Science Festival.

The project received a lot of press and media attention including the BBC History Magazine online and Sky Tyne and Wear which shot a short video.

The project, led by Dr Andrea Dolfini, is now continuing through a number of student projects, and more combat tests are planned for the next year!
