Research in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at Newcastle embraces all periods of time from prehistory to the present. We use techniques from materials science to literary criticism. Exploring new interdisciplinary perspectives is fundamental to much of our work.

Members of the School work together in Research Groups, Strands and Centres.

We lead research projects in Britain and around the world.

At Newcastle, our research students are an important part of our research community. They work closely with academic staff and take active roles in our projects and events.

Regular research seminars are an important feature of our academic life. We regularly host conferences and our scholars edit a range of prestigious journals.

We have excellent facilities to support research in all our principal subject areas.
