Research in Archaeology is organised in three strands. Each strand includes specialists in later prehistoric, classical and historical archaeology, ensuring theoretical and methodological exchange and dynamism. Scholars from other parts of the university also participate in each strand, encouraging collaborative and interdisciplinary research.research suites for postgraduates with new computing facilities, and an archaeology laboratory built with support from the Wolfson Foundation. We have close links with Newcastle University’s Great North Museum: Hancock and its internationally important collection of Greek, Etruscan, Roman, and British artefacts. Our Cowen Library is housed in the Library of the Great North Museum: Hancock.
