The thirteenth- to sixteenth-century church of Holy Trinity, Buckfastleigh (Devon), was destroyed in an arson attack in 1992. Our research follows on from building survey and ground penetrating radar survey in the 1990s. Excavation in 2002 and 2005 has demonstrated the presence of an earlier church structure, probably dating to the late Saxon period and perhaps associated with the earliest site of Buckfast Abbey.
