Research Interests

My research interests are in the cultural and political history of Italy and Europe in the XX century, particularly Fascism, emigration, the Second World War from the civilians' perspective, and the history of consumption in the post-Second World War period.

Current Work

From October 2007 to October 2010 I was involved in the AHRC funded project on 'Bombing, States and Peoples in Western Europe 1940-1945', investigating the impact of bombing on civilians in Britain, Germany, France and Italy. Postgraduate Supervision

I welcome proposals from postgraduates who are interested in any aspect of the political, cultural and social history of Italy in the 20th century, and on the impact of bombing in the Second World War in Europe.
