Our research students are all supervised by at least two members of staff. Some students work on interdisciplinary projects, and can be co-supervised by staff from other subject areas, e.g. History, Ancient History, Classics, and Fine Art. This means you can select the most suitable supervisors for your project.
We have excellent research facilities and an outstanding research environment. Students have easy access to museums and a range of libraries available to aid your research including:
- The University Library (excellent holdings in Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology and Philosophy)
- The Cowen Library and the Library of the Great North Museum: Hancock
- Library rights at Durham University Library
- Newcastle University Library Special Collections, including: The Shefton Collection (a major research collection in Greek Art and Archaeology)
