Todd Curtis was born in Texas City, Texas in 1969. He earned a BS in Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1993. While practicing physical therapy at various outpatient orthopaedic facilities, he obtained a BA in Classics at the University of Texas in Austin in 2004. Thanks to the Wellcome Trust’s generous MA and PhD studentships, he has completed a MA in the History of Medicine at Newcastle University and a PhD in Classics under the supervision of Prof. van der Eijk and Dr. Wisse. His research focused upon the interrelationship between scientific knowledge, genre, and rhetoric in the Galenic Corpus.
