Accessing your induction materials
New Undergraduate Students:
All Stage 1 students will be expected to be on campus for induction, to attend timetabled sessions and events. Your first session will be as follows:
- All students on Maths programmes (G100, G103, G300, GG13, GGC3, G1N3, G1N4, GL11, NG41)
- Monday 18 September, please arrive at 10:45am, for a 11:00am start, Ground Floor, Herschel Building.
- All students on Physics programmes (F300, F303, F344, F345, F3F5, F3FM)
- Monday 18 September, please arrive at 09:45am, for a 10:00am start, Ground Floor, Herschel Building.
The Herschel Building is number 17 on the campus map.

New Postgraduate Research students
Please contact maths.physics.pg@newcastle.ac.uk to arrange to come into Herschel building and pick up your office key. Experimental Physics students will receive a separate email with regards to arrangement for key collection for Merz Court Building.
You will receive when you arrive:
Your allocated desk in one of our postgraduate rooms (an office key will be provided) a brief tour of the School a guide to the facilities available to you. If you have any outstanding conditions with regards to your offer, they must have been met at this stage.
If you haven't already arranged a meeting with your Supervisor, please contact them as soon as possible to arrange a meeting.
School Induction will take place on Wednesday 27 September 2023 starting at 14:00. You will receive an email with further details nearer the time to confirm the location.

Smartcard collection for Mathematics, Statistics and Physics students will be taking place from Tuesday 13 September to Friday 16 September (09:00 - 13.00- Boiler House, Student Forum)
Change module choice deadline

You must complete your online registration via the Student Self Service Portal (S3P). This is where you can request a Council Tax Certificate or a bank letter.
Your smartcard gives you access to the library, sports centre, other University facilities.
You should check your University email daily for updates relating to your studies.
It is also important to review the module and programme information provided on Canvas.

You should familiarise yourself with the Philip Robinson Library and its resources as you will need to make use of these throughout your studies.
Newcastle University is committed to encouraging all students to register with a Doctor upon arrival.
If, like most students, you spend more weeks of the year at your university address than your family's address, you are advised to register with a doctor near University as soon as possible.
The Register with a Doctor event during University registration/Freshers week will have University and NHS staff on hand to help with this process.
