Conclusion to 2009 Pay Negotiations

2009 Pay negotiations are now concluded.  The increase of 0.5% will be applied in January to all points on the Common payspine and backdated to 1 August 2009.

Confirmation has now been received from the HE Employers association (UCEA) of the conclusion to the 2009 pay negotiations. The offer of an increase on all points of the common pay spine of 0.5% has been accepted by substantial majorities in membership ballots by UNISON (81.5% voted to accept) and by UNITE (85% voted to accept). The Higher Education Committee of UCU has noted the conclusion to the 2009 negotiating round. On the advice from UCEA the University is now making arrangements to implement the award for payment at the end of January 2010, including backdating to 1 August 2009.

The national agreement also includes the setting up of three working groups as follows;

  • Pay Framework & Data Research Working Group
  • Equality Working Group
  • Sustainability Issues Working Group

Separately, a Digest on Job Security has been produced, with the assistance of ACAS, which is to be distributed.

The revised pay scales are now available on the HR website.
