Newcastle Carers' Network: are you a carer for an elderly or disabled relative?

If so, you may like to be able to talk about your issues with other people in a similar situation. As an outcome of some previous research into the needs of carers, we are establishing a staff Carers' Network at Newcastle University.

12:00 - 13:00 3rd July 2009

NEW: the Carers' Network has a dedicated webpage.

The aim of the network is to provide a platform for carers to ask questions, share practical advice or information, or simply to meet others in a similar situation.

Acknowledging that time is very precious for most carers, we aim to host 2-3 short informal "get-togethers" per year and set up an email group so that the network will be largely virtual.

Our first "get-together" will be on Friday 3rd July between 12pm and 1pm in The Courtyard Restaurant (Bar Area). Any member of University staff may attend (for catering purposes, it would be helpful if you let us know you are coming, but please just turn up if you can’t let us know if advance). A buffet lunch will be provided.

The network will be co-ordinated initially by Julie Bullimore, Equality and Diversity Adviser. Julie will also provide feedback to HR about suggested changes to University policy that develop out of the network. For example, suggested improvements to flexible working guidelines.

Please contact Julie Bullimore for further information, to confirm your attendance or sign up to the mailing group.
