University Safety Policy (PDF, 26kB) – Newcastle University has a Safety Policy and a team of professionals to support staff to undertake their work in a safe manner without risk to their or other peoples’ long terms health.

Smoke Free Policy – The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 places a duty on employers to provide a working environment that is safe, without risks to health. Newcastle University acknowledges that second hand smoke is both a public and work place hazard and has therefore adopted a smoke free policy.

Data Protection at the University (PDF, 60kB) – Newcastle University needs to process a certain amount of personal data during the employment relationship and has a legal duty to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 when processing certain information about all individuals with whom it has dealings. Newcastle University has in place a number of policies governing external activities carried out by staff including Directorships, Consultancy and other external professional work. Any member of staff who plans to engage in these activities or in any activity which may lead to a conflict of interests should refer to these policies.
