The University supports two excellent defined benefit pensions schemes, and makes both available by a salary sacrifice arrangement which offers savings on national insurance contributions.

USS

The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is the national superannuation scheme for members of academic and equivalent staff. Staff appointed to grades F to I in the common pay structure will be offered membership of USS.

Retirement Benefits Plan

The Retirement Benefits Plan (RBP) is the pensions scheme offered to members of staff appointed to grades A to E on the common pay structure. The University is the principal employer for this scheme. The Union Society is an associated employer.
