Reward Policy and Strategy
Policy
The aim of the Reward Policy is to set the guiding principles and reward philosophies of Newcastle University. The Reward Policy provides the guidelines upon which strategies and the design of reward processes will be based.
The policy addresses issues such as – how the University ensures internal pay and benefits equity, deals with market pressures, attracts staff, retains staff and pays for individual contribution. Many of these aspects have now been addressed through the implementation of the agreed reward strategy. Some remain in development.
Strategy
The Reward Strategy aims to clarify what Newcastle University wants to do in both the short and longer term to develop and implement reward policies, practices and processes.
The Reward Strategy is reviewed on an annual basis in line with the University Business Plan and the University's Human Resources Strategy. It is the responsibility of the Reward Manager to undertake this review and ensure that the Reward Strategy complements and reinforces the aims of the total HR strategy in its aim to give the University a competitive advantage through the effective management of its people.
