Definition

intervention in a dispute in order to resolve it; arbitration:
"the parties have sought mediation"
synonyms: conciliation · arbitration · reconciliation · intervention

Mediation provides a safe, impartial space for two or more people in dispute with each other to discuss their situation and exchange their concerns, with a view to identifying ideas to help to resolve their dispute. The process doesn’t apportion blame, and everything discussed is confidential. The mediation meeting is facilitated by a trained mediator. They will ensure that the ground rules are clear and that the meeting is structured in a way which moves the issues forward.
