CRESTA Clinics

The CRESTAs (Clinics for Research and Service in Themed Assessment) are led and managed by the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

CRESTAs are a novel clinical concept aimed at moving translational research into clinical care and providing high quality service through a 'one-stop' multidisciplinary visit. They are also geared at recruitment of patients for participation in early phase trials.

In addition to comprehensive multidisciplinary clinical assessment, the multifunctional central 'hub' of the CRESTA floor in the Newcastle Biomedical Research Building facilitates input from specialists in rehabilitation and autonomic function assessment, thus enabling all key aspects of complex age related diseases to be evaluated in a single visit.

The waiting area has been designed to be 'older person friendly', with features more akin to a day hospital, to avoid undue fatigue during the visit and create a richer, more stimulating user environment. Furthermore, the discussions that are held in team meeting rooms following patient assessment provide a rich, interactive educational and training experience for clinicians, allied health professionals and basic science researchers.

The Pavilion Café, part of Newcastle University’s Eat @ Newcastle range of refreshment provision, provides a place for patients and carers to take a break during visits.
