Everyone's Tomorrow - the Strategy for Older People and an Ageing Population in Newcastle

Newcastle City Council, the Elders Council of Newcastle and the Quality of Life Partnership have developed Everyone's Tomorrow- the strategy for older people and an ageing population in Newcastle. It covers the period 2007 to 2017 and sets out a vision of an age-friendly city, where older people are valued and respected and the changing needs and higher aspirations of everyone aged over 50 are considered both today, and the future.  The IAH is represented on the Older People’s Strategy Group which oversees the implementation of this strategy and on the working group responsible for developing and driving the resulting action plan.

Campus for Ageing and Vitality

The Institute has a strong vision for the development, within the Newcastle Science City initiative, of a Campus for Ageing and Vitality in partnership with Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  The Campus will not only make a significant contribution to improving through-life health and vitality but also help to stimulate economic growth and investment in this area of strong future business potential. The University has already led on investment of £30M in the academic quarter of the Campus.  More information on the Campus for Ageing and Vitality can be found elsewhere on this site.
